Description
Establish virtual academic tutoring
program for school-age children
of TEACH's adult learners to
a) close the education equity gap
widened by school restrictions
due to COVID-19
b) allow children of immigrants
to be successful academically,
pursue higher education and
professional careers
c) offer parents opportunity to join
in on tutoring sessions to increase
exposure to English and encourage
participation in children's
education
d) overcome transportation and other
barriers through employing a
virtual platform that can be
accessed from home.
Tutoring will be done by Lyons
Township seniors who have solid
tutoring experience.
Outcomes
Increase participants' grades in
selected subjects, improve academic
engagement, foster a positive academic
experience, extend support network
for both child and parent, provide a
resource to parents to assist their
children with schoo work that may be
challenging due to language and e
education limitations, and create an
environment to engage parents in
their children's education.
