Description Community Based One-on-One Tutoring Core program emphasizing personal empowerment, long-term relationship building between learner and tutor, and cultural mentoring. Tutoring is held in community- based locations such as churches and libraries, with staff onsite to provide real-time support to volunteer tutors and learners Virtual Tutoring to Rural Immigrants TEACH successfully adapted to a virtual platform when the COVID struck, using a range of technologies to simulate inperson tutoring and online resources. TEACH will collaborate with local schools and libraries to offer its virtual services to reach students without ready access to ESL programs and for tutors whose preference is online instruction, specifically for the over 20,000 immigrant residents of Kendall, DeKalb and LaSalle counties.
Outcomes Community Increase language and cultural proficiency in order to improve quality of life and become a participating member of the larger community. Virtual Increase language and cultural proficiency in order to improve quality of life (including better job), become a participating member of the larger community.
